Did you know that the scriptures as we read them today are not in their original form? Most people know this…but for those who don’t, the chapter divisions were added in the early 1200s, and verse divisions were added in the mid 1500s.
In an effort to read the scriptures like this…I searched the internet and didn’t really find anything free and easy to access. Thus I set out to create one myself. I wrote to the Lockman Foundation, editors of the New American Standard translation, and perhaps two to three weeks later received an email. They wrote up a contract, and then sent me a copy of the entire Bible, free of verse numbers, in a text file.
Since then I have been slowly copying and pasting and formatting the books, so far Colossians, 1 John, and I’m in the middle of Genesis. I’ve been building a website where we can read the scriptures free of chapter and verse numbers. To read straight through.
By reading them straight through we can avoid split themes, misinterpretations, and misunderstandings. So now take the time, click the link at the very bottom of the page and read away, read the story of God as it was meant to be read. I’ll be posting books as I translate them, at the very least one book a month always on the first. Be blessed and enjoy!
