Below is an excerpt from a project that I’m working on. I wasn’t planning on posting any piece of it, but this one was too much for me not to share. And then to follow is a video which I think you should watch for two reasons. One, it’s totally awesome and by the Piano Guys. Two, it clearly displays exactly what I’ve written about in this post.
Tonight I am writing on something that has become dear to me. I write to you about passion. There are many types of passion that you will encounter, and thus far you have most likely been exposed only to the type of passion that is romantic in nature. I will cover that in time, tonight is on finding your passion.
Many people in this world are unhappy, that much I’m sure you know. But when you look closely at some people you will, at some point in time, see a change that comes over them. You will see them become enveloped in a world that is their own. Do not ever underestimate the power of that moment. For it is that moment in which they have given you a glimpse into their soul. They have given you a look at who they are at heart, the very thing they revel in and live for. You see it in musicians, actors, teachers, and so on. And when you see it in someone and truly it is their passion, you will find that you’ll be swept away by them. When they’re doing what they love the most you will find yourself captivated and unable to look away.
Let them show you their passion and you will learn more in ten minutes about them and what they do than you would learn in a lifetime of study on your own.
You will in yourself find your own passion one day; and until you find the thing that occupies your mind above all else, try many things. But when you find that one thing, pursue it with everything you have and are. Why? Let this quote explain: “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” -Howard Thruman
Now, as promised, enjoy the video!
